Caring For Your Hot Air Brush
After you select and purchase your hot air brush, it is important that you take good care of it if you are to get the most use from it. In order to keep getting those fabulous hairstyles from your brush, you must clean it regularly. Fortunately, the care and maintenance of your hot air brush is relatively simple and won’t take up much of your precious time. The key is to be consistent and do it regularly. Here is some advice on how to best care for your hot air brush:
Cleaning Your Brush
The first thing you want to do just before you start cleaning your hot air brush is to turn it off. This may be an obvious step, but it is important for your safety and definitely worth mentioning repeatedly. Hot air brushes can get very hot and most of them use electricity; you should turn them off before you clean them, as cleaning will normally involve you touching the brush and using water on it. Once your brush is off and at room temperature you should remove all the strands of hair that are in the bristles. The next step is to use a damp cloth to thoroughly wipe the entire brush, including the bristles, and making sure to get the area between the bristles. If your hot air brush has a removable filter, you should take it out and wipe it clean as well.
Specialized Cleaning Solutions
You should also consider using a special cleaning solution for your hot air brush, especially if you use a lot of hair care products, as they can really build up on your brush. I use the Hot Tools Curling Iron Cleaner that I purchase online, but you will be able to find specialized cleaning solutions for your brush and other hot styling tools at most professional salons and hair product stores as well. As these solutions are made specifically to remove the buildup of hair care products from your brush, they are normally very effective at doing just that, and are definitely more effective than just using a damp cloth alone. When product buildup is removed from your brush, it will perform better and last longer too.
Make It A Habit
The cleaning of your hot air brush should be done regularly and it is actually best if you make it a part of your hair care routine so that you don’t forget. When you make cleaning your brush a habit it’s a lot easier to maintain it and keep it in the best working condition. Ideally, you should wipe your brush with a damp cloth every time you use it, and clean it thoroughly with a cleaning solution every week or two depending on how often you use it. A well-kept hot air brush will not only deliver better styling results, it will also last a lot longer and give you more value for your money as well.
If you fail to properly clean and maintain your hot air brush you are putting your hair at risk for heat damage, as these brushes are more likely to cause heat damage when they are dirty and have excessive product buildup. There is also a greater chance that you may get burnt and your hairstyle just won’t turn out looking as good as it would if you had used a nice, clean brush. So save yourself the unnecessary risk and clean your brush regularly. Your hair will be happy you did.
